Last week 40 third through sixth grade local girls took part in a Cheerleading Camp held at the First Baptist Church, Elkins.

According to Coach Michelle Harris, who organized the camp, this is the fourth year to hold a cheer camp for the girls.

“ It used to be sixth graders only, ” Harris said, “ but the cost was so great for just a few girls. ” So the younger grades were invited to attend.

The girls perform cheers at Pee Wee Football games.

“ Pee Wee football will have a Homecoming game this year and these girls will be there to cheer for them, ” Harris said.

She said there are three squads for football, so they can have three squads of cheerleaders.

She said coaches April Hohnerlein and Sunny Ledford show the girls all the moves and help them to reach their highest potential.
