Despite unseasonably warm weather lately, village golf courses are being closed for winter to perform maintenance and repairs.

The Highlands and Country Club courses were worked on in November and December. The following is a schedule of when the remaining courses will be closed.

* Dogwood/Brittany, Dec. 26 to Jan. 13;

* Scotsdale, Jan. 16 to Feb. 3; and

* Kingswood and Berksdale, Feb. 6 to March 10.

Each course will be open on the weekends following its closing time. The closings were scheduled so that while one course is closed, others remain open.

Most of the work being done is the removal of items that would interfere with play. The bigger jobs are done first, weather permitting. Maintenance crews have been working hard to rebuild traps and tees, cut down large trees and repair water lines to help drainage on the courses.

Golfers can look forward to three new tee boxes at the Highlands and remodeled sand bunkers that will lower the lips to give them a lower profile and make them more maintainable. Workers have just finished a new bunker at the Country Club as well.
