With the recent announcement of the possibility that the newspapers in the region might merge, a number of people have asked how that affects me. I put the curious off by noting that it won’t affect me unless the merger happens.

It is going to be a very rough winter for our forest friends that rely on oak trees to fill the cupboard. Deer, squirrels and most small mammals, and many bird species, rely on acorns to provide the vast majority of winter calories.
