Lona Faye Goff
Lona Faye Goff, 66, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at her home. She was born Oct. 23, 1941, in Wasco, Calif., to Dennis McKinney Powers and Lona Mae Chism Powers.
She graduated from Waldron High School in 1959. She married Murvin Ray Goff on July 3, 1964, in Santa Cruz, Calif. She moved from California to this area in 1980. She was employed by Rose Care Nursing Home in Rogers for 20 years as an insurance secretary. She enjoyed irises, collecting salt and pepper shakers, painting nature, crocheting, reading and playing sudoku.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Lona Mae Powers; her stepmother, Muriel Powers; and a brother, Von Powers.
Survivors include her husband, Murvin Ray Goff; a daughter, Lora Noschese of Rogers; two sons, Morris Goff of Washington, D. C., and Stuart Goff of Rogers; three brothers, Coy Powers of California, Jimmie Powers of Billings, Mont., and Donald Powers of Rogers; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 19, at the Sisco Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Max Hook. Burial was at the Buttram Chapel Cemetery in Pea Ridge. Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge. Bea Faye Hailey
Bea Faye Hailey, 91, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Rogers, Ark., died Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Springfield, Mo. She was born Nov. 5, 1916, near Eureka Springs, Ark., to Elmer Davidson and Jessie Easley Davidson.
She married Newton L. Hailey Sr. on June 13, 1943. They were owners of the Hailey Ford Motor Company in Rogers for many years. She resided in Rogers approximately 60 years, and was and was a member of the Rogers Presbyterian Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She enjoyed playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton L. Hailey Sr. in 1974; a son, Newton Hailey Jr.; two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Belle Hopper and Bill Hopper of Rogersville, Mo.; two sisters, Thelma Bohannan of Berryville, Ark., and Juanita Thrasher of Bentonville, Ark.; two brothers, Willis Davidson of Rogers, Ark., and Keith Davidson of Gentry, Ark.; six grandchildren, Steve Hailey and Melissa Hall of Fayetteville, Ark., Greg Burnett of Dodge Center, Minn., Dabney Hailey of Boston, Mass., Jeni Hopkins of Boliver, Mo., and Jeff Burnett of Springfield; eight greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 19, at Benton County Memorial Park with the Rev. Jeff Parker.

Harold “ Gabby” Harlan, 75, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Rogers to Vivian McLeod Harlan and Mamie Combs Harlan.
He served as a corporal in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and received medals for his military service. After the war, he worked for 45 years as a repairman for Bunyards Appliance, which became Tucker’s Furniture and Appliance, and he was a Maytag repairman.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Wilma Louise Harlan; a son and daughter-in-law, Howard McDaniel and Christa McDaniel of Bentonville, Ark.; two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn Lancaster and Raborn Lancaster of Risen, Ark., and Jackie Collins and Jerry Collins of Pea Ridge, Ark.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie Harlan and Sheila Harlan of Rogers; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Genevieve Lorene Hopper, 89, of Pineville, Mo., died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Anderson, Mo. She was born May 29, 1918, in Ames, Okla., to Jay Wylie Coulter and Glorvina Pearson Coulter.
The Coulter family moved to the Neosho, Mo., area around 1925 using lumber and spring wagons. She married Burrell Ivan Sigler on July 25, 1939. The couple were divorced in 1952. She continued to live in Bear Hollow, where she and her daughter raised chickens.
She married Orval “ Pete ” Thorton Hopper on Columbus Day in 1957, and the couple lived in Bear Hollow. They moved to the Coulter farm in Goodman, Mo., to care for her parents and eventually purchased her parents ’ farm and lived there for many years.
After the death of her husband, Pete, she took care of elderly people in the Goodman area. She most recently lived in Pineville, where she was a member of the Women’s American Legion Auxiliary and the Sew-Scrappy quilting group. She enjoyed quilting, and her quilts won many ribbons at the McDonald County (Mo. ) Fair.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Pete Hopper, on Sept. 6, 1983; two sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, LaVina McNelly and Jerry McNelly of Pineville; a sister, Leona Anderson of Hoaquin, Wash.; two brothers, Bill Coulter of Utah and Jack Coulter of Neosho, Mo.; four grandchildren, Brenda McNelly of Pineville, Carolyn York of Flower Mound, Texas, Dana West of Rogers, Ark., and Jerry Kent McNelly of Clemmons, N. C.; four great-grandchildren, Jerran Winn, Carter York, Ryan West and Adam West; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 17, at the Anderson Chapel of Ozark Funeral Homes with Brother Hank Gorman. Burial will be at the Neosho Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Neosho, Mo. Arrangements were by Anderson Chapel of Ozark Funeral Homes of Anderson, Mo.

Albert “ Al” Martin Horvath, of Rogers, Ark., died May 8, 2008, in Bentonville, Ark. He was born May 17, 1922, in Lockport, N. Y., to Stephen Horvath and Elizabeth Horvath.
He married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Luzius, on Aug. 5, 1944. They celebrated 63 years of marriage.
He was a graduate of Plymouth High School in Plymouth, Mich., and attended Highland Park College. He served in World War II under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge, VIII Army Division. He received two Battle Stars in France and Germany, the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and the French Diplomat Medal of Freedom Award for participation in the freedom of three French cities.
He joined Daisy Manufacturing in 1957. He moved his family to Arkansas with Daisy Manufacturing in 1958, where he retired after 33 years.
He served the Quorum Court as a Justice of the Peace. He was a Charter Member of Noark Girl Scout Council, served as a Boy Scout Leader, Little League and Babe Ruth coach in Rogers. He served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was an elder of First Presbyterian Church in Rogers. He was a member of the Rogers Historical Museum, Daisy Air Gun Museum in Rogers and Arkansas Air Museum in Fayetteville. He was a lifetime member of William Penn Life Insurance in honor of his Hungarian heritage. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a lifetime member of the Rogers Noon Lions Club. He received many honors in the service to the International Association of Lions Clubs for the blind. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sportsman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister.
Survivors include his wife Charlotte of the home; a son, Craig Horvath and his wife Maggie of Fife Lake, Mich.; a daughter, Christine Neil and her husband Gene of Lowell, Ark.; a brother, Elmer Horvath of Canton, Mich.; a sister, Margaret Harkai of Portland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jeff Neil and his wife Heaven of Rogers, Alicia White and her husband Ed of Bella Vista, Katherine Horvath, Julie Horvath and Christopher Horvath, all of Traverse City, Mich., Ryan Gustafson and wife Christin of Naperville, Ill., Paige Cott and her husband Jeremy of Overland Park, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Blake and Caleb Neil of Rogers, Elayna Vyas and Leaf Spaulding of Traverse City, Sydney and Zoe Cott of Overland Park, Wesley and Louis Gustafson of Naperville; and many nieces and nephews.

Phillip Rex Latta, 73, of Rogers, Ark., died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Rogers. He was born Sept. 21, 1934, in Emporia, Kan., to George Rex Latta and Etta Rosebud Hanks Latta.
He was a former welder and also a former body shop repairman for Mercedes Benz Sales and Service Body Repair.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Thompson Latta; two sons, Gerald Lee Latta of Akron, Ohio, and Kirk Douglas Latta of Lowell, Ark.; two daughters, Rosemarie Hopper of Rockaway Beach, Mo., and Phyllis Kay Huddleston of Springdale, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Glenda Ashberger of Bentonville, Ark.; three stepsons, Jody Wilson of Rogers, Robert Sikes of De-Queen, Ark., and John Sikes of Bentonville; three brothers, Jay Latta of Hutchinson, Kan., Gerald Latta of Conway, Ark., and George Latta of Kansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Lawrence D. “ Larry” Lively, 79, of Lowell, Ark., died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in Bella Vista, Ark. He was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Puhuska, Okla., to Homer Lee Lively and Carrie Bean Lively.
He retired as an environmental engineer for Smithfield Foods. He served in the U. S. Air Force. He enjoyed remodeling projects, golf, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Samatha “ Sam” Lively, whom he married on Dec. 21, 1969, in Ada, Okla.; four sons, David Lively, Charles Simon, Michael Lively and Scott Simon; two daughters, Tera Simon and Laura Lively; a brother, Lloyd Lively; and five grandchildren.

Roy Thomas “ Tom” Remy Jr., 85, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, May 12, 2008, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. He was born July 8, 1922, in Burlington, Kan., to Roy Thomas Remy Sr. and Gladys Dell Whistler Remy.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church and served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a 32 nd-degree Mason with the Valley of Fort Smith Orient, Rogers 460, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Scimitar Shrine, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6344 and Rogers American Legion Post 100.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Remy, in 2003. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn Siler and Darel Siler of Bentonville, Ark., and Melissa Reeves and Chuck Reeves of Rogers; a brother, George Remy of Burlington, Kan.; a sister, Mary Coy of Titusville, Fla.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Larry Lee Ruse, 75, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. He was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Tabor, Iowa, to Hershel Ruse and Vesta Hammers Ruse.
He married Sallie Headen Claycomb on Nov. 12, 1983. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and was a sales partner of kitchen cabinets with Associated Builders Supply in Wichita, Kan., before moving to St. Croix, U. S. Virgin Islands, in 1990. He moved to Rogers in October 2000.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hershel Ruse.
Survivors include his wife, Sallie Headen Ruse; three sons, Kenton Ruse of Wichita, Kan., and Brent Ruse and Trent Ruse, both of Topeka, Kan.; three stepsons, Tony Amend of Lenexa, Kan., and Tyler Amend and Andrew Amend, both of Wichita; a stepdaughter, Tammy Waddell of Rogers; his mother, Vesta Dyke of Tabor, Iowa; a sister, Peggy Perkins of Tabor; and 14 grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, May 24, at his residence in Rogers. Arrangements were by the Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.

Teri L. See, 45, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, May 12, 2008, in Bentonville, Ark. She was born Sept. 2, 1962, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Larry See and Donna Burgess See.
She attended school in Carlisle, Iowa, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a truck driver with Mid Continent Concrete Co.
Survivors include her fiance, Tracy Parisho of the home; two sons, Derik See of Des Moines, Iowa, and Nathan Parisho of the home; a daughter, Hannah See of Elkins, Ark.; a stepson, Michael Knode of Des Moines; her father, Larry See and his wife Judy See of Garfield, Ark.; her mother, Donna See of Carlisle, Iowa; a brother, Joel See of Ely, Minn.; her maternal grandmother, Ellen Burgess of Hillsboro, Tenn.; an uncle, Clarence See of Carlisle; an aunt, Phyllis Polson of Bella Vista, Ark.; and her fiance’s mother, Kathy Koehly and her husband Dennis Koehly of Des Moines.

Donald Ray Selby, 54, of Springdale, Ark., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 16, 1953, in Scottsboro, Ala., to George Washington Selby and Alma Ruth Williams Selby.
He and his family moved to Springdale four years ago from Haines City, Fla. He was an over-the-road truck driver for many years and most recently drove for Professional Carriers. He had attended the Shamrock Baptist Church in Haines City. He enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Selby; and a brother, Richard Selby.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hendrix Selby; two sons, Michael Selby of Plano, Texas, and Chad Selby of Rogers, Ark.; two daughters, Jennifer Selby of Haines City, Fla., and Amanda Selby of Springdale; three brothers, David Selby of Haines City, Steve Selby of Dundee, Fla., and Danny Selby of Honoraville, Fla.; and two sisters, Betty Selby and Nita Selby, both of Honoraville.

Betty Self, 73, of Rogers, Ark., died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. She was born Jan. 6, 1935, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Elza Cameron Boatman and Helen Belle Kibbe Boatman.
She had lived in the area since 1946. She married Dale Self on Feb. 1, 1951, in Eureka Springs, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holiness faith. She enjoyed yard sales, sewing, gardening and trout fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Dale Self; three daughters, Kathrine Peterson of Washburn, Mo., Virginia Winkler of Westville, Okla., and Debra Dawson of Bentonville, Ark.; three sons, E. Dale Self of Winslow, Ariz., Willis Self of Rogers and Jackie Self of El Dorado, Ark.; five sisters, Barbara Foster and Brenda Boatman, both of Bentonville, Wanda Rogers of Pea Ridge, Ark., Kay Benningfield of Rogers and Linda Shackelford of St. Paul, Ark.; a brother, Jim Boatman of Rogers; 19 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, May 17, at the Ruddick Cemetery near Garfield, Ark., with Pastor Dick Rogers. Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.
