Velma E. Bays, 81, of Lowell, Ark., died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Rogers, Ark. She was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Easley, S. C., to Charlie H. Blair and Margaret “ Maggie ” Hughes Blair.
She served in the U. S.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L. C. Bays; a son, Kenny Bays; her stepmother Effie Dunn; five brothers; and seven sisters.
She is survived by a son, Donald Ray Bays of Rogers.
Graveside services were held Friday, May 2, at the Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers, with Pastor Karl Roten. Full military honors were provided by the Rogers Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3031 Honor Team. Arrangements were by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.

Helen Crew Goeller Bivins, 103, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Bethel Heights, Ark., died Thursday, May 1, 2008, in Bella Vista. She was born July 24, 1904, near Salem, Iowa, to George Way and Maggie Way.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Goeller; her second husband, Bill Bivins; a stepson, Michael Bivins; a sister, Georgie Klingenberg; and two brothers, Bill Way and Harold Way.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen Murphy and Jim Murphy of Bethel Heights, Ark., and Sally Furman and Jim Furman of Bella Vista; five grandchildren, Suzanne Kirk of Rogers, Ark., Mark Rogers of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Joe Wheeler of Wichita, Kan., Steve Rogers of Bradenton, Fla., and Doug Rogers of Pea Ridge, Ark.; many step-grandchildren, including Carol Newkirk of Bella Vista; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Kenneth J. Dahl, 79, of Pea Ridge, Ark., died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Ark. He was born April 4, 1929, in St. Paul, Minn., to Oscar Dahl and Corelia Marie Johansen Dahl.
He graduated from Johnson High School in St. Paul, Minn. He played professional hockey in Minnesota and Canada, and was a referee in the International Hockey League. He later received a master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin. He taught art and coached men’s golf in the Whitnall School District and in West Allis in Wisconsin. He moved to Arkansas in 1991 from Hales Corners, Wis. He was a golf pro and teacher at the Big Sugar and Lost Springs golf courses. He was a member of the Old Timers Hockey Association in St. Paul and the former Wisconsin Club in Bella Vista, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Dahl; two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah Anne Hoppe of Greendale, Wis., and Derry Berrigan and Don Berrigan of Rogers, Ark.; a stepson, Chad Hubbard and his wife Kimberly Hubbard of Waukesha, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Amy Jo Berndt and her husband Jason Berndt of West Bend, Wis.; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty Peterson and Merlin Peterson of St. Paul, Minn.; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Susan Mary Ewbank, 51, of Rogers, Ark., died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. She was born July 16, 1956, in Topeka, Kan., to John Konrade and Charlotte Dale Konrade.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Konrade.
Survivors include her husband, Shawn Ewbank; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris Ewbank and Alayna Ewbank of Centerton, Ark.; two daughters, Angie Webb and Katrina Hallam, both of the home; her mother, Charlotte Noland of Topeka, Kan.; three brothers, John Konrade of Florida, Joe Konrade of Virginia and Pete Konrade of Topeka; three sisters, Michelle Singer, Barb Moore and Julie Klass, all of Topeka; and eight grandchildren.

Felice M. Gall, 73, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, April 27, 2008, in Rogers. She was born March 6, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., to Louis Trojniar and Felice Trojniar.
She married Elmer Gall on Aug. 17, 1957. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Trojniar; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Gall; three daughters, Laura Gall of Springfield, Mo., and Valerie Gallaway and Jeanie Ester, both of Rogers; three sons, Michael Gall of Fayetteville, Ark., and John Gall and Joseph Gall, both of Rogers; two brothers, Tom Trojniar and Konrad Trojniar, both of Illinois; and 19 grandchildren.

Charles Kenneth Hubbard, 90, of Bentonville, Ark., died on Friday, April 25, 2008, at Circle
He was married to Opal Hubbard for 66 years. He enjoyed watching baseball games, as well as following the Razorbacks and liked Western novels. He was preceded in death by his wife; and his parents. Survivors include two sons, Charles Wayne Hubbard and wife Sue of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and Dean Hubbard and wife Mary M. of Rogers; a daughter, Carolyn Sue Phillips and husband Jack of Bentonville; a sister, Reola Christine Hall of Coffeyville, Kansas; five grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. Thomas R. Keck, 82, of Gentry, Ark., died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Rogers, Ark., to William L. Keck and Artie M. Cain Keck.
He married Harriet Aldrich on Nov. 25, 1946, in Clayton, N. M. He retired from the military after serving four years in the U. S. Navy and 21 years in the U. S. Army as a chief warrant officer 3 rd class. He was a member of the Vaughn (Ark. ) Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge at Hazel Valley and the Disabled American Veterans No. 53.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Aldrich Keck; three daughters, Karen Keck of Tulsa, Okla., Wanda Keck Hammett of Rayville, La., and Sheliah Keck Webb of Gravette, Ark.; a sister, Juanita Reddick of Rogers, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Sherman “ Rusty” Knox, 59 of Rogers, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at his home. He was born Jan. 7, 1949, in Maryville, Mo., to William Knox and Mary Hopkins Knox.
He served two tours with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He moved to northwest Arkansas in 1983 from Iowa. He worked for Wal-Mart Stores for more than 20 years in the electrical maintenance area. He was most recently employed with Abram’s Glass in Springdale, Ark. He enjoyed all types of fix-up projects, fishing, making swords, and riding his motorcycle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Lyla Knox; a son Robert Chaney of Rogers; a daughter, Marsha Rhine of Bella Vista, Ark.; and a granddaughter.

James Wright Majors, 69, of Sulphur Springs, Ark., died Monday, April 28, 2008, at his home. He was born Aug. 26, 1938, in Pierce City, Mo., to George Washington Majors and Mae Garrett Majors.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran and worked at R. T. W. for 36 years. He was a master mechanic and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ruth Majors.

Belle Overstreet, 90, of Bentonville, Ark., died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Northwest
She enjoyed working with her family, beginning in 1948, in the familyowned business, Overstreet’s Jewelry, on the Square in Bentonville. She was the jewelry buyer, secretary, and bookkeeper. She was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Bentonville, where she had served as president. The B & PW created a scholarship in her honor. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bentonville since 1949. She served in the nursery for many years, as well as being a Sunday school teacher at the church. The Overstreet family received the Bentonville / Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce Arthur “ Rabbit” Dickerson Pioneer Award in 2006.
She was preceded in death by a son, Fred Overstreet; five brothers and a sister.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Ralph Overstreet; two sons and daughtersin-law, Don Overstreet and Sue Ann Overstreet and Jim Overstreet and Phyllis Overstreet, all of Bentonville; a daughter-inlaw, Connie Overstreet of Bentonville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Harmon Little and Annie Little of Granite City, Ill.; Bobby Little of Puyallup, Wash.; a sister and brother-inlaw, Flora Jo Hinson and the Rev. Tommy Hinson of Rogers, Ark.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grand children.

Florence Ellen Porter, 75, of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Colcord, Okla., died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at her home. She was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Baker, Mont., to Alvie Mearl Scoles and Leona Elizabeth Bronson Scoles.
She married George Porter in 1960 in Baker. She was a retired school teacher, having taught for 35 years in Montana; Kerns, Okla.; Gentry, Ark.; and Colcord. She was a Pentecostal and taught children’s church and Missionettes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Porter; a son, David Porter; a sister, Dorothy Minard; and a brother, Lloyd Scoles.
Survivors include a son, Timothy Porter of Rogers; four daughters, Rebecca Brown of West Siloam Springs, Okla., Naomi Ross of Lowell, Ark., Ruth Boldra of Colcord, Okla., and Mary Kittle of Siloam Springs, Ark.; three brothers, Walter Scoles of Saco, Mont., David Scoles of Idlewild, Calif., and Robert Scoles of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Bonita Blaisdale of Friday Harbor, Wash., and Miriam Capra of Boise, Mont.; 16 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Joe C. Pulliam Sr., 88, of Rogers, Ark., died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at his home. He was born Jan. 7, 1920, in Tulsa, Okla., to Albert Price Pulliam and Edna E. Atkins Pulliam.
He grew up in Oklahoma. He graduated from Tulsa High School in 1939 and received a bachelor’s degree after attending Tulsa University and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He married Naomi V. Young on Jan. 3, 1942. He was a World War II veteran, serving for three years in the U. S. Air Force 5 th Division in the Philippines, Okinawa and Japan. He worked with the British American and Gulf oil companies for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by an aunt, Ouida M. Alderman, on Dec. 30, 2007.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Naomi Pulliam; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe C. Pulliam Jr. of Pilot Point, Texas, and Ronald B. Pulliam and Deborah Pulliam of Alabama; and a grandson, Robert Joe Pulliam of Dallas, Texas.

Patrick Joseph Samples, 48, of Bentonville, Ark., died April 29, 2008, in Bentonville. He was born Sept. 28, 1959, in Fort Eustis, Va., to Sgt. Major John Edwards Samples and Ann Hendrickson Samples.
He was vice president of information systems for Cooper Communities, where he worked for over 30 years. He enjoyed attending concerts, NASCAR and riding his Harley Davidson, but mostly the Raiders and anyone playing Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one sister, Kathleen Sawyer.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy Samples of the home; a daughter, Kristen Leigh Samples of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, Matthew Forrest Samples of the home; his mother, Ann Samples of Rogers; a brother, Michael Shawn Samples of Rogers; a sister, Erin Harriman and husband Chuck of Rogers; and many nieces and nephews.
