Free movie nights downtown
Posted on Wednesday, June 6, 2007
Growing up in a small town in Iowa, Tuesday nights were movie nights. Everyone in town would bring a lawn chair downtown and watch a free movie. It's such a good memory that Main Street Rogers Director Marge Wolf decided to try it here in Rogers.
Beginning on June 19, Tuesday nights will be movie nights in downtown Rogers.
A large screen will be set up on Frisco Stage on First Street next to Frisco Park. Everyone is invited to bring their own lawn chairs and coolers to watch the double feature.
The movies haven't been chosen yet, Sara Mason, promotions coordinator for Main Street Rogers, said, but the committee is working on a few ideas.
They may try to find some classic cartoon shorts for the early feature, she said. Since its a family activity, the movies will be suitable for all members of the family, she said, but the second movie may be geared more for parents then children.
The fun begins at 8 p.m. and there is no charge.
The first 25 families will get a free gift from co-sponsors Blockbusters or Schlotsky's.
