I apologize for missing last week's deadline, I got caught up in some medical tests and completely underestimated the amount of time I would need to recoup (actually I learned what a wimp I am ) and that the surgery I will have will put me down for a good two weeks.

Yes, I admit it - I am having weight-loss surgery. It is really scary and exciting and scary all at the same time.

I had never really considered my weight to be really a health issue. Somewhere in my little world I just thought I would get by without high blood pressure or other issues.

Well, my bubble was popped recently by one of Mercy's finest. After lots of research and his suggestion to do it, I got myself mentally ready to have surgery and make some major lifestyle changes.

Once I got my mind around the fact that I could have surgery and that I could take Elizabeth to Branson, ride a ride, get on a plane and not be tortured, and all the things I really can't do at my current weight, I knew I wanted to do it and "be half the woman I am today by next summer."

Next week, I will be enjoying a liquid diet for two weeks, no caffeine, no chocolate, no sugar. I am sure I will be so much fun to be around. As I come around and have a good attitude I will let you know.

On a downtown Rogers note....

Have you seen the new Rogers calendar that Gary Townzen puts out each year ? He has outdone himself. You can pick one up from him for $ 5.

The Peacock girls have opened up Peacock Productions on First Street that is all about dance, fitness, drama and is a very happy place to go into.

The old Freedom Bible College building is about to become a florist shop.

And if you have not been to the Vinson Square Tea Room (the old Crumpet Tea Room ) you have got to go.

Have a great week.
