ADC Spring Fling The Adult Development Center of Rogers will hold their annual Spring Fling from 7 to 10:30 p.m. May 17 at the Clarion Hotel in Bentonville. Events include silent and live auctions with live music. Nick and Connie White will serve as honorary hosts over the event which includes dinner and a cash bar. Casual, tropical dress is encouraged. Also on May 17, the center is sponsoring a Poker Run at the Rogers-Bentonville Elks Lodge in Rogers with registration from 8 to 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Entry fee is $20 for the first hand and $10 for extra hands. Maps will be provided with directions and stops. For more information contact the Adult Development Center at 636-5082. OHC to participate in conference

Office of Human Concern n Rogers will participate in the annual conference of the Arkansas Community Action Agencies Association at the Wyndham Hotel in North Little Rock May 28-30, at which Gov. Mike Beebe will speak. OHC and the other 15 private, nonprofit community action agencies injected more than $132 million into communities throughout the state last year to help more than 200,000 people of low-income gain the basic necessities and strengthen economic self-sufficiency. Al West, executive director of OHC, said in a news release announcing the agency’s participation, “We wanted to be a part of celebrating community action’s statewide successes of the last year and of preparing to do even more to help more people.” In the last year, the agency, that has a budget of $4 million and employs 65, helped more than 4,800 people in Benton, Carroll and Madison counties. ArkAppella Show Chorus ArkAppella Show Chorus, after completing all steps in the chartering process and being approved by the international board of directors, received their official charter as a Sweet Adelines International Chapter at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas, April 25. Peggy Gramm, president of Sweet Adelines International, and Sarah Montgomery, region 25 membership coordinator, presented the official charter to Brenda Fleming, director, and Marilyn Annen, team coordinator of the ArkAppella Show Chorus of Springdale. The charter assures membership in an organization that not only teaches and performs music in the barbershop style, but also nurtures friendships, love and harmony that reach far beyond the individual chapter, its rehearsals and performances. Sweet Adelines International offers a variety of educational experiences, such as annual summer music camps for all members, additional classes in directing, arranging, judging and leadership.
