A Russellville man who was arrested last week for stalking his exwife faces an arrest warrant on new charges of residential burglary.

Joshua Clapp, 27, is accused of breaking into the home of his exwife’s parents, south of Prairie Grove, and stealing several items, including savings bonds, insurance cards and divorce records.

He’s also accused of taking a manilla folder containing threatening e-mails he had sent his ex-wife and other documented details of problems with Clapp.

The burglary was reported Sept. 28, but the parents suspect it occurred several days before his arrest. There was no sign of forced entry, and the victims suspect Clapp had a key, according to the affidavit.

Clapp was arrested Sept. 24 by Fayetteville police near the residence of his ex-wife, who told officers he had violated a protective order several times and threatened to kill her.

Inside his car, officers discovered several items including a hunting knife, a hatchet, a rubber mask of President Jimmy Carter, an electrical cord with the insulation stripped off the ends, a pair of latex gloves, binoculars, duct tape, plastic zip ties commonly used as restraints and maps with directions to the victim’s family members’ homes, according to the arrest report.

Clapp also faces a charge of thirddegree attempted escape. According to police, he tried to escape while he was in handcuffs in an interview room at the Fayetteville Police Station.

In addition, he faces charges for carrying a weapon and violating his order of protection.

A judge set a $ 100, 000 bond for the new burglary charge and ordered Clapp to have no contact with the victim or her family.
