The Greenland School Supporters plan to hold another dinner to raise money for the financially-troubled district prior to the high school's homecoming game Friday.
The dinner will start at 5 p.m. and tickets for the meal are $ 6 for adults and $ 3 for children 10 and younger. The main course for the meal will be smoked chicken.
The last fundraising dinner before a home football game raised $ 2, 200, according to former Greenland school board member Ginger Fritch.
The group held a meeting to discuss upcoming fundraising events Tuesday evening.
Various supporters are scheduled to collect money for parking at two parking lots as a fundraiser during the Bikes, Blues & BBQ motorcycle rally in Fayetteville this week. They will be at the APAC business lot at Dickson Street and East Avenue and the courthouse lot at College Avenue and Dickson Street on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Colton's Steakhouse in Fayetteville has agreed to donate 10 percent of the proceeds from its sales Saturday to the group.
Several fundraisers planned for October are listed at www. greenlandsos. com. No figure was released by the group Tuesday on how much they have raised so far.
The group has also set up a new savings account at Arvest Bank where people can deposit donations directly.
Superintendent Roland Smith has said he would like to see at least $ 200, 000 raised to help shore up district finances and provide financial stability.
The group plans to re-schedule a canceled fundraiser concert by the Little Ol' Oprey Band either for Oct. 5 or 12, but the date has not been finalized.
