Former Razorback netter Matt Roberts won the second doubles title of his professional career this past weekend at the Montafoner Raiffeisen ITF Futures event in Vandans, Austria. Roberts and Gaetano Marrone earned a 6-0, 2-6, 10-2 victory over the fourth-seeded team of Haitem Abid and Bastian Knittel for the tournament win.
It was the second upset over a seeded team of the event for the Roberts-Marrone team. The unseeded duo earned a berth into the finals with a straight-sets win over the tournament's No. 3 seed, Nicolas Reissig and Bertram Steinberger, 6-4, 6-3.
Roberts' first professional doubles title came in January at the Guatemala F 1 Futures event where he teamed with Antonio Ruiz-Rosales for the tournament win.
During his career at Arkansas, Roberts was a two-time All-SEC performer. In his senior season, Roberts won a career-high 28 matches while helping lead the Razorbacks to the regional finals in 2006. The 28-win season represents a tie for the seventhhighest win total in a year by a Razorback. Roberts also tallied 26 victories during the 2005 season.
