Razorback linebacker charged with DWI

University of Arkansas sophomore linebacker Freddy Burton, 19, was arrested Saturday night by University of Arkansas Police in Fayetteville and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Burton was released on $ 880 bond.

University of Arkansas sports information director Kevin Trainor said Sunday Razorback coach Bobby Petrino is aware Burton was arrested and will deal with the situation as facts are ascertained.

UAPD Public Information Officer Gar y Crain said that officers stopped Burton after observing him cross the middle lines and swerve a little on Maple Street. After failing a field sobriety test, Burton was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he blew a blood alcohol content of 0. 13 on a breathalyzer test. The legal blood alcohol content limit in Arkansas is 0. 08.

Lettering last season as a true freshman special-teamer / reserve linebacker, Burton, a graduate of Morr ilton High School, played in 12 of Arkansas' 13 games. He logged 23 tackles, including 12 unassisted and was among the hardest hitters on special teams.

Burton closed spring drills as second team Sam outside linebacker behind senior Elston Forte.
