Golf Hogs tied for 19th after first round at NCAA regional

The Arkansas men's golf team completed first-round action of the NCAA Central Regional on Thursday with a 20-over-par 304 at the Scarlet Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio. The Razorbacks are tied with Penn State for 19 th place.

Junior Jason Turner is the top UA golfer after shooting a 3-overpar 74, trying him for 24 th place.

David Lingmerth is tied for 38 th at 75. Freshman Sam Chavez shot 77 and is 77 th.

Juniors Andrew Landry and Will Osborne each shot an eight-overpar 78.

Wake Forest leads the team competition at six-over-par 290.

The top 10 teams and top two individuals not on a qualifying team will advance to the NCAA Championships to be played May 28-31 at the Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind. Ten teams, including Arkansas, are within five strokes of the final qualifying spot with 36 holes to be played.
