Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1101 W. Hudson Rd. in Rogers, will sponsor the Northwest Arkansas Reformation Service at 4 p.m. today. The speaker is Rev. Terry Tieman, executive assistant to the district president for the mission and outread for the Mid-South District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The service will feature special music from the Lutheran Churches in Northwest Arkansas and a spaghetti supper will be held in the Life Center following the service. A free-will offering will be taken to go towards the Salem-Epiphany Hurricane Relief fund for the Mid-South District.

Holy Trinity will also hold an old-fashioned fire and hot dog roast at 4 p.m. on Nov. 6 in the back parking lot. There will be singing and a short devotion at this time.

Trinity Temple Church, 1100 Rolling Hills Dr. in Fayetteville, is holding a fall festival from 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. The festival will feature bounce-arounds, food and games for all ages.

First United Methodist Church, 206 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale is hosting the 4 th Annual Northwest Arkansas Soup Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6. Local restaurants will offer different soups, chowders, gumbos, breads and desserts. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children. For more information call 957-4242.

First Baptist Church in Springdale will host ‘Discover Shiloh,’ a preview night for parents interested in Shiloh Christian Schools, at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7. This event will be a time to answer any questions potential students and their families have about the school, faculty, staff and student body. Subdeacon Thomas E. Williams was ordained a Deacon by Bishop Basil Essey, Bishop of Mid-America and Wichita in the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of America, on Oct. 23 at St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church in Oklahoma City. He is the first Subdeacon to be ordained a Deacon in Northwest Arkansas.

Deacon Thomas lives in Rogers and currently serves at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Christian Mission in Springdale, under Fr. John Atchison. He graduated from the three-year program in applied Orthodox theology required for ordination on Sept. 1 at the Antiochian House of Studies in Ligonier, Pa.

The Women’s Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held its annual conference for women, ‘Empowered to be Self-Reliant,’ on Saturday, Oct. 22. The conference was open to women from Northwest Arkansas, Southwest Missouri and Northeast Oklahoma and featured speakers, including local professionals in several areas, who focused their talks and workshops on developing self-reliance. Topics included the importance of staying physically healthy by Dr. T. Hal Bradford of Fayetteville, involvement in the Church’s humanitarian aid efforts by Denise Carter and Susan Blaylock of Bentonville and development of intellectual skills and knowledge by Mark Macdonald, director of the Institute of Religion at the University of Arkansas. The conference was attended by over 300 women.
