St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church will celebrate the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos on Sunday, with Divine Liturgy beginning at 10 a.m., preceded by Morning Prayer (Orthros) at 9 a.m. One of the 12 major Orthodox feast days, the observance commemorates the death of Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. Orthodox Christians fast for the two weeks to prepare for the feast. St. Nicholas is located at 105 Blair St., at the corner of Blair and Meadow, in Springdale. Call 751-1830 for information. Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville, 901 W. Cleveland St. in Fayetteville, will have services at 11 a.m. Sunday featuring "The Last Ten Percent" by the Rev. James Johnson. This sermon will explore the difference between being a truth teller and a peacekeeper and will look at ways to enhance communication. For details, call 521-8422.

Mark Shieldnight has been named the full-time minister of music at Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville. He is married to Carrie Jones Shieldnight, and they have two daughters, Marcaela, 8, and Makenlee, 8 months. Shieldnight has served in churches in both Texas and Oklahoma before coming to Arkansas. They moved to Calvary from the Harvey Baptist Church in Stephenville, Texas. He has served in the full-time music ministry for more than 15 years. He has sung with the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma and The Singing Men of Texas, which are groups made up of Baptist ministers of music from Oklahoma and Texas.

Tim Cook, who was serving in a combination music/youth position, is the new full-time Calvary minister of students and outreach.

The 9 th annual Promise Seekers Women’s Retreat will be held at the KBA Campground outside of Talihina, Okla., on Sept. 17-18. Women of all ages are invited, including college and high school. All materials, lodging, food and insurance will be provided free of charge. The theme of this conference is "Making a World of Difference."
