Road Closings

Douglas Street, between Garland and Oakland avenues, will be closed until the end of December for utility work. This is part of the Garland Center project, consisting of the new University of Arkansas Bookstore, 20,000 square feet of retail space and a 1,500-space parking garage. Lindell Avenue, between Douglas and Cleveland streets, will also be closed except to residents.

Events and Activities

Integrity of NWA will have a holiday party and benefit for Peace at Home Family Shelter at 1 p m. today at Boi De Ouro Brazilian Steakhouse, 741 E. Van Asche, Fayetteville. Cost is $17 for Integrity friends and $12 for Integrity members. There will be a salad bar and hot dish station, full cash bar, a DJ and a dance floor. The Fayetteville Lions Club will have its 58th annual “Auction of the Air” on Cable Channel 18 from 6:30-10:30 p.m. today and Saturday at CAT TV Station in Fayetteville. The auction raises money to assist blind and visually impaired people in the local community and works to make people more aware of ways to fight diabetes. To bid, call 521-1720.
