Grant application workshop to be held in Fayetteville

Six Arkansas state agencies and organizations will hold a series of free workshops to inform the public on the procedures for applying for a variety of grants. One such workshop will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 in Fayetteville at the Washington County Courthouse, 280 N. College Ave.

Grants administered by the following six state agencies and organizations will be discussed: the Community Resource Group, the Arkansas Department of Rural Services, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, the Delta Regional Authority, the Arkansas Natural Resource Commission and the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Community Facilities Program.

In addition to the Fayetteville workshop, the following programs will be held in other cities:

Friday, Nov. 14, 10 a.m. — Dumas Community Center, 18 Belmont St., Dumas

Tuesday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. — Calhoun and Carney Building, 1440 W. First North, Prescott

Tuesday, Nov. 25, 10 a.m. — Newport Chamber of Commerce, 201 Halzel St., Newport

The Community Resource Group provides loans and technical assistance to communities with water, wastewater and affordable housing projects. The Arkansas Department of Rural Services provides grants for a variety of projects, including community centers, fire stations and fire trucks. Projects funded through the Arkansas Economic Development Commission are used for senior citizen centers, public health facilities, childcare centers, fire protection, community facilities, economic development projects and water / wastewater projects.

Portions of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee are served by the Delta Regional Authority, through a federally funded grant program. The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission administers funds for residential water and wastewater programs.

The United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Community Programs provides grants and loans for projects including community centers, fire stations and fire trucks, medical facilities, waterline extensions and wastewater collection / treatment systems.

These workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
