A Fayetteville man faces criminal charges for allegedly cutting his girlfriend and chasing her father with a pocket knife.

Thomas C. Malone, 34, of 1215 E. Farmer Dr., was arrested by police Sunday on felony charges involving two counts of aggravated assault on a family / household member and one count of firstdegree terroristic threatening. He also faces misdemeanor charges involving two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of third-degree domestic battery.

Officers responded to a disturbance at Malone’s residence at about 7 p. m. Sunday.

Witnesses told police that Malone began drinking heavily at about 2: 30 p. m. Sunday and became combative. He reportedly became violent during an argument with his girlfriend. During the argument, he reportedly hit the victim several times and cut her face with a knife.

Malone then went outside, according to a preliminary arrest report, and began chasing his girlfriend’s father with the knife. The incident reportedly took place in front of his two children. He reportedly fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Police set up a perimeter and used K-9 units to search the area. After receiving a tip from a neighbor, officers located Malone hiding in a trailer park, just west of his residence. He was arrested and taken into custody.

He was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $ 2, 000 bond for the domestic battery charge Monday night. No bond amount was posted for the other charges. Malone was expected to make his first appearance in Fayetteville District Court Monday. He is scheduled to appear Wednesday in the Washington County Circuit Court.
