Five apprehended in pair of drug busts

Fayetteville police arrested five people in connection with two separate drug busts Wednesday.

Members of the 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Fayetteville Police Depar tment executed a search warrant at 705 S. Wood Ave. on Wednesday and allegedly discovered approximately 2.4 pounds of marijuana, five Ecstasy pills, $2,715 and several items of drug paraphernalia, including scales.

DeCarroll Ernest Bridges Jr., 33, of Fayetteville was arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (marijuana), possession of a controlled substance (Ecstasy) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Later that same day in an unrelated incident, drug task force members and Fayetteville police executed a second search warrant at 2638 W. Old Farmington Road and allegedly seized about 30.8 grams of crack cocaine, 24.3 grams of cocaine powder, 100.9 grams of marijuana, 20 Ecstasy pills, scales and a loaded. 38-caliber pistol.

Brandon Terrell O'Neal, 19, of West Helena; James Cortez Arnold, 32, of Helena; Chelsey Afton Curry, 20, of Fort Smith; and Corey Lamar Clemons, 22, of Little Rock were all arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (cocaine), possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (crack cocaine), possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (marijuana), simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (Ecstasy) and possession of drug paraphernalia. O'Neal and Arnold also face felony charges of illegal delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine).

All five suspects from both incidents were being held in the Washington County Detention Center on Thursday night. They will make their first appearance in the Washington County Circuit Court today.

The 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force comprises the Fayetteville, Springdale, University of Arkansas, Prairie Grove, Lincoln, Farmington, West Fork, Greenland, Johnson, Elm Springs and Elkins police departments, as well as the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
