A Fayetteville man face criminal charges for allegedly making meth inside a local rental home.

Tommy L. Jerrell, 34, of 230 S. College Ave., was arrested by police Friday on a felony charge for possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture methamphetamine.

Officers responded to Jerrell's residence after his landlord reported possible drug activity inside the home. The property owner told police that Jerrell was receiving medical treatment from burns sustained inside the apartment from ammonia. While checking the inside of the residence, the landlord reported finding burnt coffee filters and various lengths of tubing - components she believed to be part of a meth lab.

When police arrived at the scene, Jerrell, who was wearing a hospital gown with no shoes, allegedly ran. He fled northeast, toward the Yvonne Richardson Center, according to reports from various citizens.

Officers spotted Jerrell running into a wooded area near the east side of Willow on Rock Street. He was eventually discovered hiding behind a tree and taken into police custody.

Jerrell was being held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $ 5, 700 bond Saturday evening for the listed charge, as well as criminal charges for loitering and fleeing.
