The estate of Donna Fay Snow filed a lawsuit Friday alleging that Springdale Health and Rehabilitation Center and its administrator were negligent in her death.

Snow died in the Springdale nursing home on Dec. 28, 2006, six days after she was admitted. She was 63.

Snow dislodged her catheter line, entered the bathroom and fell. She bled to death while lying on the bathroom floor before she was found at 5: 35 a. m., according to the complaint.

"It appears that the cord to her nursing call light was missing," the lawsuit states.

Snow had a port placement for dialysis in her upper left jugular vein that she was prone to pick, according to the complaint.

The nursing home and its staff knew about Snow's medical condition and should have taken steps to care for her needs, the lawsuit alleges.

The lawsuit, which was filed by Snow's daughter, blames the defendants for failing to appropriately monitor Snow.

The administrator, Deanna Shackleford, said she could not comment on the lawsuit because she did not know anything about it.

The lawsuit also names the Tuscaloosa, Ala.-based corporation that owns the nursing home.
