Masked thief heists beer from Jose’s on Dickson

Fayetteville police are seeking a suspect accused of stealing beer from a local restaurant after spraying a bartender with mace.

Officers responded to a robbery at Jose's Mexican Restaurant, 324 W. Dickson St., at 11: 49 p.m. Wednesday.

Restaurant employees reported that a man entered the business wearing a camouflage shirt and pants with an orange ski mask over his head. He reportedly sprayed a bartender with mace and stole a 12-pack of beer from a cooler before fleeing through the back door of the business. Witnesses said the suspect ran toward Campbell Street and turned right.

Fayetteville police set up a perimeter and searched for the suspect in the area of Dickson Street, St. Charles Avenue and Lafayette Street. K-9 units were also called to the scene to search for the suspect. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, police had not identified the suspect or made any arrests.
