Kilpatrick sentenced to 30 years for sex crime

A Springdale man faces 30 years in prison after pleading guilty on Thursday to a sex crime involving an 18-year-old woman in August 2006.
Lonnie Ray Kilpatrick, 49, was sentenced on Thursday to 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction by 4 th Judicial Circuit Judge William Storey. The sentence will run concurrently with the sentencing from a 2007 criminal case in Crawford County, according to court records.
Kilpatrick is accused of having forcible sex with an 18-year-old woman at his Springdale home on Aug. 25, 2006. He was initially charged with rape and pleaded guilty on Thursday to a lesser charge in this negotiated plea.
The sentence was affected by his previous criminal records, according to court records. He served two years of probation on a 1993 breaking or entering charge. He also served an 18-month sentence in the department of correction on a 1994 charge of theft by receiving.
In the current case, the accuser told police that after she took medicine that makes her sleepy, Kilpatrick bound her hands and legs and then raped her before untying her and going to his bedroom.
Kilpatrick told the victim not to tell anyone what he was going to do or he would kill her, according to the arrest affidavit.
