County planners OK mobile homes

The Washington County Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustments approved at a meeting Monday evening a request for a conditional-use permit to set up two mobile homes in the Durham area.
Planner Courtney McNair said the request, from Marilyn Combs at 20377 Durham McCord Road, was made so the family could set up additional housing for other family members on the property, which covers about 3. 62 acres.
The commission also named member Randy Laney chairman and Robert Daugherty vice chairman of the commission. Laney was absent from the meeting.
McNair also told the commission that county staff was still in the process of discussing “ corridor zoning” along state highways where the roadway is outside of city limits and between neighboring communities. An example is the area along U. S. 71 between Greenland and West Fork.
