A Winslow man was arrested by police for allegedly brandishing a gun during an argument in a Wal-Mart parking lot.
Mark D. Reed, 58, of 17506 U. S. 71 S., faces a felony charge of aggravated assault.
Fayetteville police responded to Wal-Mart Supercenter, 2875 W. Sixth St., on Monday evening in reference to an armed suspect caught on store surveillance footage. The footage allegedly showed Reed exiting the store and encountering another man.
The two reportedly began to argue, at which point the man attempted to punch Reed.
He then walked to the back of Reed’s truck and kicked it before leaving the scene in his own vehicle. Reed reportedly removed a pistol from under his driver’s seat and began walking toward the area where the other man had been standing.
After realizing that the man had left, Reed walked back to his truck with the pistol in his hand.
Police searched Reed’s vehicle and reportedly found a semiautomatic pistol. Reed told police he did not have a permit for the weapon. He further told police that he and the other man had been arguing about money owed to him.
Reed was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center and was later released.
