A jury found for the defendants in a medical malpractice case that ended Friday in Fourth Circuit Judge Mark Lindsay’s courtroom.
Phillip Steven and Mary Core had sued two Fayetteville doctors for alleged medical malpractice over their treatment of the Cores ’ daughter, Susan Redding.
Redding was 27 when she underwent surgery for an infected arm at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She did not regain consciousness after the operation. She had a cardiac arrest on Dec. 18, 2003, a day after the surgery, and is now incapacitated in a Fort Smith nursing home.
Defendants in the case were Drs. Gary Templeton and Jon Sexton, both pulmonologists with the Fayetteville Diagnostic Clinic, another defendant. Jurors found all three not guilty of medical malpractice.
The Cores filed suit in 2005 and sought money for future care of their daughter.
