Washington County Assessor Lee Ann Kizzar sustained minor injuries in a car accident Wednesday on East Dickson Street.

Both Kizzar and her husband, Steve Kizzar, who also works for the county as the computer systems administrator, received minor injuries when their car was struck by another vehicle while returning to work from lunch.

Kyle Lawson, 16, was traveling south on Olive Street in a Honda Accord when he ran a stop sign and collided into an Oldsmobile Intrigue driven by Lee Ann Kizzar, who was traveling west on Dickson Street.

Lawson and a passenger of his car were transported from the scene by ambulance. Both Lee Ann Kizzar and Steven Kizzar were also transported to Washington Regional Medical Center.

County Administrator John Gibson said both are fine and were resting at home Thursday. Kizzar has a minor neck injury and a few cuts and bruises, he said.

"They came out very lucky," he said.

Gibson said he's not sure when they will be cleared by a doctor to return to work but estimated it would not be long.

"My suspicion is that it won't be very long knowing those two," he said.
