A casting call has been made to area residents for a scene in the feature film “ War Eagle. ”

Hundreds of extras are needed at the Fayetteville High School baseball field at 1001 Stone St. on Saturday night. Those wishing to be extras need to be at the baseball field no later than 7: 30 p. m. and should plan on being there for several hours while the scene is being filmed.

Publicist Theba Lolley said the scene being shot in Fayetteville is pivotal to the film’s plot.

“ War Eagle” is a characterdriven drama about a young man’s choice of whether to leave his family and friends for a career in baseball or stay and redeem his struggling community. The story takes place over a few pivotal weeks in the summer after Enoch Cass’ senior year and is set against the backdrop of the Ozarks.

The scene being shot in Fayetteville involves an allstar baseball game where things aren’t looking good for Enoch. His team is down 6-2 and the coach hasn’t yet put him in the game. Enoch’s love interest, Abby, is bored; the Tennessee Southern University coaches are disappointed; and Enoch’s grandfather is fuming. With little hope left, Enoch goes in and begins pitching the game of his life.

After the game, Abby and Enoch share a “ look” and Enoch knows he’s won her over. When the TSU coach considers a scholarship offer to Enoch, he must make a decision that could affect the rest of his life.

The film features Golden Globe, Emmy and two-time Tony Award winning actor Brian Dennehy; Academy and Emmy Award nominated actress Mare Winningham; Emmy and Grammy Award winning actress Mary Kay Place; and Emmy-nominated actor James McDaniel. Newcomer Luke Grimes stars as Enoch.

Extras are encouraged to wear Razorback apparel, but should not wear white, tiny patterns and, most importantly, no commercial logos. Participants should show up at the Fayetteville High School baseball field no later than 7: 30 p. m. and will be directed on what to do at that time.

The shoot could take up to five hours, and attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, a meal and plenty of water. Entertainment will be provided and drawings will be held for many prizes throughout the evening. Families are encouraged to attend, and parents should feel comfortable in bringing children, while keeping in mind that it could last several hours.

Security will be provided for the event.
