HIGHFILL - Vice President Dick Cheney will come to the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, then travel to Springdale on Monday, all on behalf of Asa Hutchinson, the Republican candidate for governor.
Cheney is set to arrive at the airport at 10: 50 a.m. Monday and address a 12: 35 p.m. luncheon for Hutchinson at the Holiday Inn Springdale Hotel and Convention Center, 1500 S. 4 th St., a White House schedule of the trip states.
He will depart from XNA at 1: 20 p. m., according to the schedule.
In this election year, in which all 435 members of the House, 33 senators and many governors are up for re-election, Cheney has put in lots of time on the campaign trail, said Jennifer Mayfield, a Cheney spokeswoman.
As of Friday, the vice president has appeared on behalf of GOP candidates some 78 times this election year, she said. While the vice president has usually campaigned for Republican candidates for the U. S. House or the U. S. Senate, he has also campaigned on behalf of a few GOP candidates for governor, Mayfield said.
