Education is the key to life
Asking our presidential candidates when life begins shows our ignorance. Expecting them to have an answer approaches stupidity. Learned people differ in opinions. Religious leaders differ in opinions. We the people differ in opinions. Opinions are not facts.
Science gives us informed definitions, but when have we let facts stand in the way of what we believe? Especially when people who call themselves "pro-life"want answers for their agenda.
Ironically, many who claim to be pro-life deny our children information, which could prevent abortions, by supporting abstinence-only programs. The "no-sex-until-marriage"pledge taken by some of our youth has a failure rate of over 70 percent. Under George W. Bush we have spent over $1 billion worldwide supporting abstinence-only programs.
Pro-life is an oxymoron when one fights for the rights of the unborn while ignoring the born child. It is not pro-life to allow babies to end up in state care, where children are seldom adopted; have uncertain futures; are mentally, physically and sexually abused; and are found missing or dead.
It is not pro-life to be unrealistic by expecting more from anyone, especially our children, than we expect from ourselves. We do this by supporting abstinence only, which has not worked for any generation.
It is not pro-life to withhold sex education from our children, risking their futures with unplanned pregnancies, marriages and sexually transmitted diseases.
Pro-life is being realistic adults about human behavior and educating our children about the facts of life.

Animal cruelty? What about abortion?
I've been hearing a lot about animal abuse lately. I've heard it referred to as subhuman, brutal and torture; that it should become a felony crime on the second offense. It is now considered a misdemeanor. I totally agree!
And what about abortion on demand? Isn't it worthy of the same attention? Doesn't anyone know how they perform abortions? People should check it out. All the torture methods are available on the Internet or in the public library. But people just accept it without knowing what it consists of. Sadly, animals already have more protection than the unborn human. We've got a world problem concerning both kinds of torture. But at least they say they're willing to consider making it a felony for a first act of torture on an animal.
The gruesome torture of the unborn human is legal. It's called "abortion on demand!"Thus the question: Do we, as a matter of our public (human) policy, wish to see animals tortured? Do we want to see an abortionist inject a salt solution into an unborn baby to torture it to death? Or crush the baby's skull as it comes out of the mother to torture it to death? Or suck out the baby's tiny parts from the mother's womb with a suction device? Talk about torture and subhuman. I'd say this is totally inhuman.
Abortion is final -- it is death. There is no second chance. Both of these torturous acts should be illegal and considered a felony crime. My prayer is that someday soon we will see justice.
