Beebe among UA alumni award winners

Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe is one of seven distinguished University of Arkansas alumni honored at an awards banquet Friday.

Three faculty members and an honorary alumnus were also recognized by the Arkansas Alumni Association during the 65th annual Alumni Awards Celebration at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House in Fayetteville.

Beebe and two other UAgraduates - Cordia Harrington and Art Meripol - received the Citation of Distinguished Alumni Award, which recognizes exceptional professional and personal achievement and extraordinary distinction in a chosen field.

Beebe said he was very grateful to be honored by UA, where he got his law degree that allowed him to begin the career that led to his success in politics.
