Viral vaccine: Flu shot clinics to be offered soon in Washington County schools

Springdale and Elkins will be the first school districts in Washington County to offer flu shot clinics later this month for students as part of a statewide effort to vaccinate students from the flu.

The Arkansas Department of Health is coordinating the administration of the vaccines at schools across the state during school hours. Department spokesman Ed Barham said vaccines for both seasonal flu and the H1N1 influenza, commonly called swine flu, will be available at the school flu clinics.

The Elkins School District is scheduled to hold its flu shot clinics for students on Oct. 20.

Springdale will start administering the flu shots on Oct. 19 at Har-Ber High School, then it will have the flu shot clinics at ...
