Thanks to the quarterback and the golfer, Arkansas’ basketball team will be able to dress eight players for tonight’s regular-season opener against Alcorn State.

The Razorbacks have only six scholarship basketball players available to start the season because of suspensions, injury and redshirting, but the team’s roster has been expanded with the addition of Brandon Mitchell from the football team and Stephen Cox’s return from the golf team.

Mitchell, a 6-3 freshman who signed with Arkansas as a quarterback and is redshirting this season, joined the basketball team last week. He also drew recruiting interest as a basketball player in high school and showed his skills in last Thursday night’s exhibition game against LeMoyne-Owen with 8 ...
