Arkansas lottery sales draw down other states’
Stores on border claim losses large and small

Oklahoma’s leading seller of Powerball lottery tickets said sales are down by more than 50 percent since Arkansas started selling Powerball tickets on Halloween.
“I’m shocked,” said Arif Chaudhry, owner of the Grand Slam convenience store in Pocola, Okla., which ranked No. 1 in the state last fiscal year with $809,260 in Powerball sales.
“I am losing income,” he said. “If you lose $1,500 to $2,000 per day, it’s not a big shock?”
Chaudhry said he averages Powerball ticket sales of about $2,000 per dayon most weekdays, and as much as $5,000 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when drawings are held in the multistate lottery.
