Arkansas powers way into big-time jackpot

Arkansas’ lottery plunged into selling tickets to the Powerball multimillion-dollar jackpot Saturday night, joining 30 other states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing in Orlando, Fla., will be about $66 million if no one won Saturday night’s jackpot, said Ernie Passailaigue, executive director of the Arkansas Lottery Commission,

Drawings are held at 9:59 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday nights.

With Arkansas’ lottery selling Powerball tickets,there’s no reason why Arkansans should cross the border to play somebody else’s lottery, Passailaigue told a few hundred people attending the lottery’s Powerball party in the River Market Pavilion.
