Former Razorback to pitch against Naturals

Last season, Todd posted a 4-1 record and a 2. 78 ERA in 16 games (seven starts ) for the Batavia Muckdogs in the New York Penn League.

Pitching for the Razorbacks in the 2007 Southeastern Conference Tournament against nationally ranked No. 9 University of South Carolina, Todd struck out 17 batters in just eight innings, setting both school and SEC tournament records.

Todd struck out the first nine batters of the game, all of them swinging.

On April 24, pitching for Palm Beach, he struck out nine Vero Beach Devil Rays in five innings of work, including seven in a row.

Todd is currently ranked as the Cardinals ’ 12 th best prospect by Baseball America magazine.

The Springfield Cardinals roster also includes former Hogs infielder Casey Rowlett and catcher Matt Pagnozzi, who is the nephew of former Cardinals ’ catcher Tom (Pagnozzi ).

The Cardinals, who are tied with the Naturals for first-place in the Texas League North, begin their four-game set at 7 tonight at Arvest Ballpark.

SPRINGDALE — Former Arkansas Razorbacks pitcher Jess Todd was promoted Sunday to the Springfield Cardinals roster and is scheduled to start tonight’s game against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Arvest Ballpark.
