Siloam Springs hires new engineer

Siloam Springs has hired a new city engineer.
Adam Roark of Bentonville left his job with Lindsey Engineering Solutions to work for the city. He started last Thursday.
"The city engineer position will provide me with an opportunity to serve the community while working with people who are sincerely interested in improving the quality of life in this city," Roark said. "It's also a chance to make a difference by being a part of new ideas and solutions to old problems."
He replaces Gary Wilfong, who resigned as city engineer in May.
Roark's short-term plan as city engineer is to focus on drainage issues.
"Northwest Arkansas has encountered more than normal rain this year," Roark said. "Unfortunately, this has resulted in some localized flooding and a marked increase in mosquito populations."
He hopes to deal with some of the drainage issues by next spring.

Roark was born and raised in Anderson, Mo.
He's a 2000 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
He and his wife Amanda have three children, Alex, 6, and twins, Kristen and Ethan, 3.
"Interestingly, the twins were born Thanksgiving morning, 2004," he said.
The family currently lives in Bentonville, but Roark hopes to sell his home soon and move to Siloam Springs.
"I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, fishing, hunting, playing golf and riding ATVs," Roark said. "I'm genuinely excited about the future here in Siloam Springs, and I look forward to working with both our residents and our city staff. At Lindsey Engineering Solutions, a division of Lindsey Contracting LLC in Springdale, he helped establish the engineering division. "We provided consulting services such as topographic surveying, site design and engineering, permitting and project management," Roark said. "I also assisted the contracting division with the review of construction plans for bid tabulation and cost estimation, construction scheduling and management.
