Pink Ladies puttered around the First Baptist Church fellowship hall April 23, decorating tables with pink candles and place settings with individual goodie bags, and making sure that everything was ready for their guests.

The Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteers, wearing their pink jackets, were making ready for an influx of auxiliary members from seven other hospitals in the region, all of whom were converging on Siloam Springs for the Northwest District Meeting of hospital auxiliaries.

The Siloam Springs unit played host to the event and made it a memorable affair for the large crowd of visitors.

Linda Kimball, pro tem Northwest District chairman, called the meeting to order after registration and refreshments.

Sharon Sly, president of the SSMH Auxiliary, welcomed the guests, and local auxilian Betty Lundberg gave the invocation.

After introduction of guests, the keynote speaker Penny McClain, CEO of SSMH, addressed the group. McClain spoke about the local hospital's year of developments toward building a new hospital and reiterated the importance of hospital auxilary volunteers.

A business session followed, and the district's auxiliary presidents gave reports about their respective chapters.

At the close of the business meeting, guests enjoyed a luncheon catered by Missy Morris of Edibles by Zoe. Vickie Loyd, a humorist from Fayetteville, provided entertainment.

Hospital auxiliaries represented at the event, in addition to SSMH, were Washington Region Hospital in Fayetteville, Eureka Springs Hospital, North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale, St. John's Hospital in Berryville, and Mercy Medical Center, formerly St. Mary's Hospital, in Rogers.

The hospital auxiliaries are part of the American Hospital Association.

Nancy Van Poucke of the SSMH Auxiliary was chairman of the event.
