Touch-A-Truck Kids of all ages will enjoy this Parks and Recreation event on Oct. 18. At the Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot, on Highway 412, from 10 a.m. to noon, you will get to see many types of trucks, cars, and tractors.

These will include fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, and farm vehicles.

You will be able to speak with the men and women who use these vehicles to do their jobs.

You will also be able to sit on or in the vehicles, so bring your camera. West Siloam Fire Department dinner The West Siloam Volunteer Fire Department will have their monthly fundraiser dinner on Oct. 11 at the Moseley Elementary School cafeteria. The night's menu will include chili and soup. A $ 4 donation is requested for tickets. Rummage sale The Siloam Springs Heritage League will hold it's 5 th Annual Rummage Sale on Oct. 18, starting at 7: 30 a.m. at the Siloam Springs Community Building. Items will include furniture, baby and children's toys and clothes as well as household items.

Proceeds will benefit Heritage League projects, including local scholarships, the Siloam Springs Christmas Parade and local families in need.

Heritage League is a service club whose purpose is to serve and improve the community. For more information, call 549-3400. Head Start Head Start is a free comprehensive child care program for children. If you are interested and your child was born on or after Sept. 16, 2003, call 524-4283 or stop at 1017 E. Tulsa for more information or to pick up an application between 7: 30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Spaces are limited. Yard sale The Weddington E. H. C. Club will host a yard sale Oct. 10, starting at 8 a.m. Go five miles east on Highway 412, then north on Highway 68 N. and follow the signs. For more information, call 524-4859. Class reunion Members of the Siloam Springs High School Class of 1958 and friends are invited to a drop-in Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. On Oct. 25, class members will gather at Dawn Hill Country Club for a group photo, banquet and program. For more information, call (918 ) 723-4262. Food drive Cub Scout Pack 232 and Boy Scout Troop 84, working together with First United Methodist Church, is hosting a community-wide food drive to benefit Manna Center in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The food drive will run through Oct. 31 and there are drop boxes in town where donations can be given. Food items can be donated to Community Christian Fellowship, First United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, and IGA. The Scouts ask that all food items donated be non-perishable. Benefit concert A "Hope for Hannah"benefit concert will take place Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. at Community Christian Fellowship, 525 South Lincoln in Siloam Springs. The featured band will be Jackson Waters with opening music by John and Bradford. Tennille Price and Cindy Kelley will also be performing. The doors will open at 1: 15. Tutors needed Dogwood Literacy Council offers free tutoring in English literacy. Students can learn to understand, speak, read and write English, or, if they are native English speakers, they can improve their reading and writing abilities.

Volunteer tutors are needed as well. Anyone interested in tutoring can call 524-4009. Poker Run There will be a motorcycle poker run in Gentry on Oct. 11. Registration will begin at 7: 45 a.m. and last bike out will be at 9 a.m.

There will be prizes for high hand and low hand.

Door prizes will be available as well. If you pre-register, cost is $ 25 per hand played.

If you have a passenger and they play a hand it is $ 25. If you do not pre-register it is $ 30 per hand.

Lunch will be served to all participants at around 11: 30 - noon.

Clothing give-away Eastgate Church of Christ, located on Highway 412 East in Siloam Springs, is having a community clothing give-away on Oct. 18, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Emergency siren testing The Town of Colcord will be testing their emergency siren on Fridays, weather permitting. Weight Watchers meetings A local Weight Watchers group meets in Siloam Springs on Thursdays with weigh-in at 4: 45 p.m. and meetings are at 5: 30 p.m.

The group meets at Grace Episcopal Church located at 617 N. Mt. Olive Street.

The times and days are Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Produce, herbs, honey, eggs, art, plants, hand made crafts are available.

Vendors may not sell or give away live animals. For more information, call Misty Threatt at 524-4971. Razorback Chapter of DeMolay in Arkansas The Razorback Chapter of DeMolay in Arkansas meets the first and third Monday every month from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Siloam Springs Key Lodge No. 7.

For more information, call Patrick Carr at 549-5058. Animals up for adoption on Web Spring brings increasing numbers of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens without homes into the Siloam Springs Animal Shelter.

The Siloam Springs Animal Shelter is located at 200 A North Lincoln and open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Pets not claimed within five days are subject to adoption. Siloam Springs Civitan Club meetings The Civitan Club meets at noon the first and third Thursdays of each month at the Dye Lounge at the Mabee Center at John Brown University.

Civitan's mission is to build good citizenship dedicated to serving individuals and community needs with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.
