Mary Frances O'Flaherty Mary Frances Oí Flaherty, 68, of Nebraska City, Neb., died Aug. 4, 2008 at St. Maryís Community Hospital in Nebraska City.
She was born Feb. 8, 1940, in Yukon, Okla., to Chester and Mary (Lindsey ) Kennicutt.
Before moving to Nebraska City, she had lived in Gentry, Ark., and Nashville, Tenn. She was a computer operator and enjoyed her pet cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Marikay Elizabeth. Survivors include her son Joseph Oí Flaherty and his wife Kelly of Nebraska City; her daughter Cathy Oí Flaherty of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Sandra Smith of Colcord, Okla., Maxine Foster and her husband Don of Gentry, Lou Ella Helton and her husband Gary of Carl Junction, Mo., and Deanna Tucker and her husband James of Decatur, Ark.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no viewing or visitation. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be designated to the Nebraska City Museum of Firefighting. Marshall Funeral Chapel of Nebraska City, Neb., is in charge of arrangements. L. D. Smith L. D. Smith, 59, of Gravette, Ark., died Aug. 10, 2008, at Southwestern Regional Medical Cancer Treatment Center of America, Tulsa, Okla.
Born Feb. 6, 1949, in Fairview, Okla., he was the son of Lester Leon Smith and Thelma Ann Koehn Smith. He had lived in the Decatur and Gravette area since he was 8 years old. He was a self-employed builder and mechanic. He was a deacon for Living Waters Ministries in Decatur. He married Judy Dozier in Tahlequah, Okla., Nov. 15, 1972.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Smith, and one brother, Billy Smith. Survivors include his wife Judy of the home; his mother Thelma McDonald and her husband George of Decatur, Ark.; one son, James Smith of Gravette, Ark.; three daughters, Tammy Fouts and Tressa Harmon, both of Gravette, and Tina Davidson of Siloam Springs, Ark.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Byron Smith of Exeter, Mo., and Nickie Smith of Decatur; and three sisters, Dolly Pool of Decatur, Glenda McCully of Southwest City, Mo., and Peggy Cunningham of Nevada.
Funeral services will be 10 a. m., Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at Decatur Assembly of God Church, Decatur, with Rev. Janet Long and Stacey and Vernon Garr officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery, Decatur. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p. m., Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Inc., Siloam Springs, Ark. Owen Hawkins, Jr.
Owen Hawkins, Jr., 73, of Decatur, Ark., died Aug. 9, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.
He was born in Decatur, Ark., Dec. 8, 1934, the youngest of six children born to Owen Hawkins, Sr., and Mae (Philpott ) Hawkins. A truck driver, Hawkins enjoyed hunting in his younger years and, more recently, enjoyed spending time with his family and taking care of his yard. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and attended the Decatur church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David Hawkins and Danny Hawkins; four brothers; and one sister. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Betty (Hanna ) Hawkins of the home; children, Diane Hawkins of Austin, Texas, Dwayne Hawkins of Bentonville, Ark., Dennis Hawkins and wife Angela of Sulphur Springs, Ark., Debbie Little and husband Laura of Eucha, Okla., Dana Hawkins of Little Rock, Ark.; a stepson, Bill Clinton and wife Kitty of Gravette; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m., Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Decatur Assembly of God, with Pastor Kirk Anderson officiating. Memorials may be made to the Decatur Assembly of God Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.
