Decatur band honored April 4

DECATUR ó Sixteen band students traveled to West Fork High School to compete in the Arkansas Band and Orchestra Association (Region One ) solo and ensemble contest April 4.
Students prepared a solo or small ensemble ó a duet or trio ó and performed before a judge. Contestants were scored on a 5-point scale with a ì 1 î rating being the highest.
Decatur students performed six solo pieces and seven ensemble pieces. They won two 2-, two 3-, and nine 1-ratings.
Students who performed were:
Sixth grade ó Jazmine Hardwick, Carter Beggs, Katherine Franco Arango, Lora Fuller, Youa Vang, Megan Anderson, Levi Duncan, Shannon Smith, Brittney Frost, Michelle Woodall and Rachel Hardin; Seventh grade ó Myranda Jackson, Jayme Burden, Bobby Shaw and Kaula Yang; Eighth grade ó Jessica Tosta; and Ninth grade ó Corbin Patton.
