Decatur Middle School students honored for their achievements

DECATUR ó Students were honored for their achievements at a Decatur Middle School awards program on May 29.

Teacher JoAnn Carmack presented fifth grade math awards to Lynlee Witcher, David Franco-Arango, and Jamie Peraza.

She presented fifth grade social studies awards to Sam Goble, Joni Fuentes, Lynlee Witcher and David Franco-Arango.

Carmack also presented an achievement award to Holly Goodwin, a citizenship award to Martha Gonzalez and a principalís award to Lacy Barrett.

Teacher Natalyn Patton presented academic excellence awards to Jayme Burden, Orlando Aguirre, Katherine Franco-Arango, Jovanna Frias and Evan Owens.

Patton presented achievement awards to Hannah Ramsey and Randy Wright, and Logen Jamison received an award for the most improved student.

Teacher Kayla Ellison presented a first place science medal to Joni Fuentes and second place science medals to Lynlee Witcher and Jamie Peraza. David Franco-Arango received a third place science medal.

Ellison presented a first place language arts medal to Ger Vang. Jamie Pereza received second place award, and Lynlee Witcher received third place.

Ellison gave Samantha Harmen an achievement medal for outstanding behavior and academics, and Ger Vang received a citizenship award for always being nice to others.

Teacher Kim Browning presented sixth grade social studies awards to Jovanna Frias, Savannah Garrett and Katherine Franco-Arango. Browning presented seventh grade social studies awards to Jayme Burden and Evan Owens.

Browning presented seventh grade Arkansas history awards to Jayme Burden and Evan Owens. She also presented keyboarding awards to Jeremiah Bean and Kaula Yang.

Lavonne Foreman presented seventh grade science awards to Kaula Yang, Andrew Lor and Felicia Robbins. Deysi Rosales received an award for most improved student and Jayme Burden received a medal for overall best science student.

Foreman gave Kao Vang an award for sixth grade math, and Timothy Clements received a medal for overall best math student.

Foreman presented sixth grade science awards to Kao Vang, Timothy Clements and Orland Aguirre. Katherine Franco-Arango received a medal for the overall best science student.

Foreman named Jessica Gregory and Caleb Mead the most improved students in sixth grade enrichment math.

She also presented middle school student council pins to Evan Owens ó president, Jayme Burden ó vice president, Kaula Yang ó secretary, Myranda Jackson, Bobby Shaw, Tara Arnold, Jovanna Frias, Kao Vang, Kendra Greenhaw, Katherine Franco-Arango, Zhaj Yang, Samantha Goble and Ger Vang.

Top students in seventh grade math were Jeremiah Bean and Orlando Aguirre. ì Aî students were Jayme Burden, Myranda Jackson, Evan Owens and Kaula Yang. Most improved students were Brian Goodwin and Arthur Lor.

Academic excellence awards were given to sixth grade students who passed seventh grade classes. They were Orlando Aguirre, Cordelle Bell, Katherine Franco-Arango, Kendra Greenhaw and Aaron Hill.

Daughters of the American Revolution awards were given to Lynlee Witcher, Katherine Franco-Arango and Jayme Burden.

Principalís awards were given to Ger Vang and Lacy Barrett in the fifth grade, Katherine Franco-Arango in the sixth grade, and Jayme Burden in the seventh grade.

Reading awards were given to Jayme Burden, Myranda Jackson, Evan Owens, Sayde Roughton, Jessica Segovia, Kaula Yang, Tara Arnold, Nieko Bates, Brian Goodwin, Josh Hare, Rigo Lara, Andrew Lor, Jordon Powell, Jovanna Frias, Courtney Lawrence, Ana Pina, Randy Wright, Carter Beggs, Savanah Garrett, Jessica Gregory, Lorena Juarez, Kao Vang, Orlando Aguirre, Cordelle Bell, Katherine Franco-Arango and Kendra Greenhaw.
