Kappa Klassic
The 12 th annual Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament will take place Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Berksdale Golf Course in Bella Vista.
Each year, the Fayetteville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. raises money for a nonprofit organization through its golf tournament. This year’s primary charity is Meals on Wheels of Rogers, which provides food and daily contact to those who are shut in by age or infirmity.
The format will be a fourperson scramble with an entry fee of $ 100 per player.
Registration and a continental breakfast will begin at 7 a. m., followed by a shotgun start at 8 a. m. and a luncheon at noon. Prizes will be awarded during the luncheon, and a donation will be presented to Meals on Wheels.
Sponsorships are available at the following levels: Bronze, $ 250; Silver, $ 500 with special signage at a designated hole; Gold, $ 1, 000 with entry for a four-person team and special signage; and Platinum, $ 2, 000 with an entry for a four-person team, a plaque and special signage.

The Bella Vista Women’s Golf Club will sponsor the 39 th Northwest Arkansas Women’s Golf Association “ Summer’s Flip-flop into Fall, Part 2 ” on Thursday, Sept. 4, at Kingswood Golf Course.
This event is open only to members of the Bella Vista 18-hole club and other Northwest Arkansas Women’s Golf Association clubs.
Entry forms will be available beginning Aug. 4 in Bella Vista pro shops, as well as online at www. bellavistapoa. com.
The two-lady scramble can include 72 teams maximum. All women must have a certified GHIN / USGA 18-hole handicap. Flights will be determined after play.
Registration deadline is Aug. 27. No refunds will be offered after that date.
Kingswood Golf Course is a no-spikes facility. Also, shirts must have sleeves or a collar, and short-shorts are not allowed.
Entry fee is $ 37 per person or $ 74 per team for Bella Vista Women’s 18-hole Golf Club members. The price for nonmembers is $ 47 per person or $ 94 per team.
The fee includes a morning snack at 8 a. m., golf with a 9 a. m. shotgun start, a closest-to-the-pin contest and lunch. Awards will be presented at Riordan Hall following play.
There is no rain date, but in case play is canceled, lunch will be served at 1: 15 p. m. A rain check will be issued for play, and prizes will be drawn.

HOT SPRINGS — Hot Springs will be a qualifying site for the 2009 National Senior Games when the city hosts this year’s Arkansas Senior Olympics.
The Arkansas Games are scheduled for Sept. 17-21, with a 5 K and 10 K Road Race on Oct. 11. All venues are in the Garland County area.
The Arkansas Senior Olympics is a collection of Olympic-style events, ranging from swimming to track and field, tennis, golf, cycling and other sports. Nontraditional activities include pickleball, weightlifting, bean-bag baseball and more.
The games are open to all people aged 50 and older. The Arkansas games have a total of 83 opportunities to compete.
Participants compete in five-year age increments. Winners in each division receive awards.
The first games were held in Russellville in 1983 with 103 participants. Today, more than 800 people annually enjoy the competition and earn gold, silver and bronze medals.

The Bella Vista Women’s 9-hole Golf Club will host its Summer’s End Member-Guest Tournament on Monday, Sept. 15, at the Berksdale Golf Course. Shotgun start will be at 8 a. m.
Cost is $ 30 per player or $ 36 if half a rental cart is needed. The fee includes greens fees, continental breakfast, lunch and prizes.
The format will be a fourlady scramble for nine holes. Everyone is welcome, whether or not they are members of the club.

Bella Vista golfers can participate in Patriot Golf Day 2008 from Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
The national program is designed to support families of military personnel who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty.
For the second year, golfers in Bella Vista, and around the country, will have the opportunity to donate $ 1 or more to this cause. Each golf pro shop in Bella Vista will provide a donation box for golfers to give back to those who have sacrificed everything.
