Illinois and Indiana clubs

The clubs ’ second annual combined golf outing will be held Sunday, May 18, at Berksdale Golf Course in Bella Vista. Dinner will follow at Papa Mike’s.

Golfers will play a nine-hole scramble with the first tee time at 12: 31 p. m.

The next dance will be held at Riordan Hall on May 12 from 7 p. m. to 9: 30 p. m. Johnny Eubanks will be the caller, and rounds will be cued between tips by Dick Miller.

The association’s monthly meeting will take place Saturday, May 10, starting at 9: 30 a. m. in the Rotary Room at Bentonville Public Library.

Social time will be followed at 10 a. m. with a presentation by Bill Williams. He will talk about the new Pyromed service recently begun in Bella Vista for the disposal of prescription medications.

Kay Turnbaugh, scholarship chairwoman, will give information about the process for students to apply for AAUW’s local scholarships. Applications are due May 27, and the scholarships will be presented at the group’s June luncheon. Turnbaugh may be contacted at 855-0155.

The auxiliary will convene at 1 p. m. May 15 at the Bella Vista post, 103 Veterans Way.

Newly elected officers for the year commencing July 1 will be installed, and delegates for the National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be elected.

The Iota Alpha Chapter elected officers for the 2008-09 year at its April meeting. They are as follows: Sue Williams, president; Judy Schoeny, vice president; Mary Frizzell, secretary; and Kay Nelson, treasurer.

This month’s social will include spouses. On Friday, May 9, golf will be played at the Bella Vista Country Club course, followed by a picnic at Tanyard Creek Pavilion. Social time will be at 5: 30 p. m., with dinner at 6: 30 p. m.

The GadAbouts will attend a Northwest Arkansas Naturals game at 7 p. m. June 18 at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale. The group will first dine at a family restaurant yet to be determined.

Cost per ticket is $ 4, which will seat participants on the third base line.

The Northwest Arkansas Handweavers Guild will gather at 10 a. m. May 10 at the Arts Center of the Ozarks, 214 S. Main, in Springdale. Visitors are welcome.

Linda Long will continue her discussion of “ Finishes for Weavers. ” She has made a study of how to end woven pieces and will have numerous samples for demonstration.

The Bella Vista chapter is scheduled to meet May 8 at 9 a. m. at St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church, 1001 Kingsland Road. The program will be on joining nine-patch.

This chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution will gather at 9: 30 a. m. May 12 at St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista. Madames Linda Clausen and Beverly Hanson will serve as hostesses.

The program will be “ A Review of the Life of Alexander Hamilton ” given by Muriel Cross.

Bella Vista Chapter 1547 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will have its regular monthly meeting at 10 a. m. Friday, May 9, in the Robin Hood Room at Metfield Clubhouse. Breakfast will be available before the meeting, and lunch may be eaten after.

Guest speaker Joda Taylor’s topic will be “ Perspectives on the Middle East. ”

The next meeting of the Bella Vista Computer Club will be Monday, May 12, at 7 p. m. in the community room at Highlands Crossing Center, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd., Suite 120. The room is on the lower level.

Ryan Smith will give a program on “ How to Set Up a Web Site. ” This will be a two-part program continuing at the June meeting.

Free open-house computerhelp clinics are scheduled for 10 a. m. to 1 p. m. May 21 and June 7 in the Computer Club’s classroom at Highlands Crossing Center.

Ladies ’ Day Out on May 21 will feature a catered picnic lunch at Veterans Memorial Park in Fayetteville and a tour of the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks.

The group will carpool at 10: 45 a. m. from the parking lot across from Bella Vista Town Center, just to the right of Village Bible Evangelical Free Church.

Cost of the outing is $ 17, which includes lunch and a $ 5 entrance fee to the gardens.

The club will meet Wednesday, May 7, at Riordan Hall. A lesson will be presented from 6: 30 p. m. to 7 p. m., and dancing will be from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m.

The public is welcome to attend a dance for $ 2 per person.

Entry to Riordan is free for those with a Property Owners Association photo identification card. Otherwise, cost is $ 2 per POA policy.

The club will end the season May 21 with a spring dance at Riordan. Live music will be provided by the Happy Five.

Starlight is a fragrance-free club.

The Bella Vista Garden Club meets the fourth Wednesday of the month, January through April and resuming in September, at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road.

Upcoming events include the club’s annual luncheon June 4 at Embassy Suites in Rogers and a juried flower show, titled “ Lazy Daisy Summer, ” from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. June 7 at Bella Vista Community Church. The show is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
