Stories in new golf book might sound familiar

Some Bella Vista golfers may come to find that the stories written in a new book sound familiar.
Dr. R. G. "Jerry "Bailey, owner of Bailey Golf Tours, had a book, titled "The World is Our Course," published that includes stories of Bailey's international golf adventures.
Bailey Golf Tours has been in business since the late 1990 s, and has helped many area residents travel overseas for golfing and tourist opportunities.
"A lot of my clientele comes from Bella Vista," Bailey said.
The new book talks of Bailey's experiences, detailing humorous stories from trips he has taken. Some locals may be reading about themselves, he noted.
"I didn't use their names, but I bet they recognize some of the stories."
The book was published in July by Wheatmark publishers.
Bailey, who was born and raised in Houston, spent his career traversing the globe working for Exxon. His time spent with the oil industry gave him ample opportunities to play golf in exotic locations, he said.
After retiring from the oil business, Bailey decided to share his expertise by starting two companies, a petroleumconsultation business and a golf-tour company.
He has led small groups on golfing expeditions to places like Scotland, Portugal and Libya. Writing a book gave him the opportunity to share his many stories, he said.
Although his travels have led him around the globe, Bailey visits Northwest Arkansas occasionally to get in a game of golf. His favorite course to play when in the area is the Pinnacle Country Club Course in Rogers.
Bailey said he also enjoys playing in Bella Vista, and the city is respected in the golfing community.
"I can mention the words'Bella Vista'around golfers, and I don't even need to say Arkansas, and most of them will know because it's got such a good reputation."
Bailey said his favorite course to play overall is St. Andrews in Scotland, because of all the history.
"That is the course."
"The World Is Our Course "marks the second book Bailey has had published. It can be ordered at most major book stores.
