SPRINGDALE - The ArkAppella Show Chorus has received its official charter as a Sweet Adelines International chapter, after completing all steps in the chartering process and being approved by the international board of directors.

The local group accepted the appointment April 25 at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas. Peggy Gramm, president of Sweet Adelines International, and Sarah Montgomery, Region 25 membership coordinator, presented the official charter to ArkAppella Director Brenda Fleming and Team Coordinator Marilyn Annen.

The charter assures membership in an organization that provides opportunities for people to learn and perform music in the barbershop style. Sweet Adelines International offers a variety of educational experiences, such as annual summer music camps for all members and additional classes in directing, arranging, judging and leadership.

Region 25 consists of five states - Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma. The region held its annual meeting and chorus competition April 24-27 in Richardson. ArkAppella Show Chorus members Wilma Forbes and Bridget Martin presented the chorus flag during the annual March of Flags, and Billye Martin was selected as representative for all Arkansas choruses by participating in and winning a special preshow contest.
