Computer users having trouble sending photos

Q: I use Outlook Express and sometimes receive an e-mail message with pictures that I want to send to someone. When I copy and paste the pictures into a new email message all I get is a box with a red x. why doesn't this work ?
A: There are several different ways to place a picture in an e-mail message.
The two most common ways are to attach and embed (include the picture with the text ). The not so common way is to send an e-mail that contains a picture called from (downloaded from ) a web server.
If pictures are attached or embedded you can simply forward the e-mail, the pictures will forward with the e-mail message. When you click the Forward button the original e-mail message will open in a new window. After placing the e-mail address of the person you are forwarding to in the To: box you can edit the original message.
You can delete e-mail addresses, names, text you don't want to forward, a picture you don't want to include, and then add your message before clicking the Send button.
If the pictures are being called from a web server you cannot forward them without making a setting change in Outlook Express.
Rather than change a setting that you might forget to change back, do the following. Right-click on a picture and choose "Save As."
Tell the computer where to save the picture and give it an appropriate file name before clicking the Save button. Do that for each of the pictures you want to forward.
Now you can open a new e-mail message, address it, attach each of the saved pictures, write your message and click the Send button.
Q: From time to time Outlook Express asks if I want to compact folders. Should I do this ?
A: Yes. Everything you delete in Outlook Express goes to the Deleted Items folder. When an e-mail message is deleted from the Inbox it disappears from the Inbox and appears in the Deleted Items folder. When you empty the Deleted Items folder the message disappears from the Deleted Items folder. In reality, the messages are not removed from the hard drive; they are merely hidden from view. Having all of these hidden e-mail messages on the hard drive can eventually slow the program. To correct this situation, every 100 times the program is closed the program will ask if you want to compact messages. The compacting process removes the hidden e-mail messages from the hard drive and recovers the space they occupied. Once the compacting process begins it is absolutely essential that the process is not interrupted. Do not use the computer until the compacting process is complete. Any interruption during the compacting process could cause data loss or folder corruption.
