Watch their eyes light up when they talk about golf clubs and the game itself.
Bella Vistans Mark Yekelchik and Noel Moore treasure golf. They love to play it, make golf clubs and help people play better.
Now they have rolled all of their passions into one package and opened a new business, Exact Golf.
The store is located in Sugar Creek Center, just down from Medicap Pharmacy.
This is the third golf store for Moore and the second one for Yekelchik. Both of them owned Golf Factory, which they eventually sold. Moore also owned USA Golf until 1993, when he sold it to William Burke.
The reason they started this venture was to make clubs to fit each golfer’s build and style of playing. The properly fitted clubs should help people achieve lower scores, the two men believe. The three critical pieces of information they need to custom fit a club to a golfer’s swing are club distance, head and launch angle, Yekelchik said. In addition, they look at several other parts of the swing to fine-tune the building process. They use PureLaunch, a computer program, to record and analyze the data. Their customers will leave with a set of clubs to help them improve their game based on their goals, Yekelchik said. One of their customers, Steve Roach, said they helped him lower his score. He couldn’t hold back his appreciation for the difference they made in his putter. It wasn’t just a little improvement, “ It was tremendous, ” he said. The two owners have 20 years of combined experience of custom designing and fitting clubs.
Also, they will regrip and repair golf clubs. Besides selling equipment to men, the two owners also see an opportunity to sell to women, a customer group that many other golf stores frequently overlook, Yekelchik said.
Sometimes their customers need lessons to improve their golf game. To provide full service to those people, the two are working with Bella Vistan Beverly Williams, a Ladies Professional Golf Association pro. She will give lessons and advice so players can improve their game.
The owners see positive growth for the golf industry and their business. While rounds may be down in Bella Vista, people are still playing a lot of golf in northwest Arkansas, Moore said.
The store is open from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a. m. to 2 p. m. Saturdays.
