AAUW accepting applications for scholarships

The Bentonville-Bella Vista chapter of the American Association of University Women is accepting applications for academic scholarships for the 2008 fall term.
Each scholarship, of approximately $ 600, will be awarded to women who reside in Benton County and have completed at least one year of college. Recipients may attend any college.
The scholarships are based on scholastic achievement, community activities, future goals and financial need.
It is anticipated that three scholarships will be awarded this year. The money can be used for books or to defray college expenses in any way.
The scholarships will be presented at a special luncheon in June.
The deadline for receiving applications is Tuesday, May 27.
Applications can be obtained at the student aid offices at Northwest Arkansas Community College, the University of Arkansas and John Brown University. Anyone who would like to receive an application by e-mail may call 855-0155.
AAUW is an organization for female college graduates who are committed to helping other women with educational and personal needs.
The local chapter has presented more than 15 scholarships in Arkansas in recent years.
