Bella Vista

Donnajean Colson, 71, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, May 12, 2008, in Springdale, Ark. She was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Grandview, Mo., to George Arington and Rose Senter Arington. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista. Survivors include her husband, Ted Colson; two sons, Jim Colson of Grayslake, Ill., and Rodney Colson of Fort Smith, Ark.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Colson of Holton, Kan., and Carolyn Milliron and Larry Milliron of Bella Vista; her mother, Rose Arington of Olathe, Kan.; a brother, Wesley Arington of Springfield, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Courtney Edwards of Wylie, Texas, and Jeremy Milliron of Manhattan, Kan. Visitation will be from 1 p. m. to 2 p. m. Friday, May 16, at Penwell and Gable Funeral Home of Olathe, Kan. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Friday, May 16, at Penwell and Gable Funeral Home. William Graham Combes, 97, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, in Bella Vista. He was born Jan. 2, 1911, in Henryetta, Okla., to Will Alfred Combes and Maude Ethel Graham Combes. He married Marjorie Harrison Combes on Oct. 12, 1940, in Centralia, Ill. He worked for Gulf Oil Co. for 18 years and for LeRoy Mitchell Oil Field and Equipment in Wyoming before retiring in Tulsa, Okla. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Pilgrim Rock Lodge A. F. & A. M. and the Scottish Rite of Tulsa. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Harrison Combes; two sons, Stephen Combes of Kalispell, Mont., and David Combes of Tulsa; Okla.; a daughter, Miriam Combes Barker of Emigrant, Mont.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, May 14, in Concordia Care Center’s all-purpose room in Bella Vista. Forney “Otto” Davison, 57, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. He was born July 17, 1950, in Wewoka, Okla., to J. R. Davison and Eulemia Lucille Scott Davison. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was president and CEO of the Davison Co. Survivors include his wife, Lynda Davison; two sons, Joseph Davison of Selma, Calif., and Adam Davison of Visalia, Calif.; a stepson, Jonathan Reed and his wife Tiffany Reed of Springdale, Ark.; three stepdaughters, Laurel Reed of Bella Vista, Christa Reed of Jane, Mo., and Melynda Norriss of Bentonville, Ark.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff Davison and Janelle Davison of Bella Vista and Chris Davison and Lourie Davison of Visalia; and nine grandchildren. Ruth Scoles, 76, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. She was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Soldier, Iowa, to Brede Bergerson and Magna Halverson Bergerson. She was raised and educated in Iowa. She married Roger Scoles on June 2, 1950, in Fond du Lac, Wis. The couple lived in Mapleton, Iowa; Sioux City, Iowa; Topeka, Kan.; Edmond, Okla.; and Overland Park, Kan., before moving to Bella Vista in November 1993. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista. She enjoyed golfing, sewing and cooking. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rudy Bergerson and Lief Bergerson; and two sisters, Trace Wimer and Peg Soukup. Survivors include her husband, Roger Scoles; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Scoles and Karen Scoles of Naperville, Ill.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin Hase and Allen Hase of Lawrence, Kan., and Kelly Muxlow and Paul Muxlow of Topeka, Kan.; two brothers and sistersin-law, Olaf Bergerson and Helen Bergerson of Sumner, Wash., and Selmer Bergerson and Darlene Bergerson of Knoxville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren, Sara, Jessica, Elise, Madeline and Jack. Dorothy Faddis Richardson, 82, of Decatur, Ark., died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Bentonville Manor in Bentonville, Ark. She was born Sept. 5, 1925, in Red Star, Ark., to Wesley Friend and Rebecca Collins Friend.

She lived most of her life in the Gentry, Ark., and Decatur area, where she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ever Ready Educational Homemakers Club in Decatur and volunteered at the Decatur Care Store. She was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church in Decatur and the Springtown (Ark. ) Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, William Argus Faddis and Ben Richardson.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, William Faddis and Terry Faddis, both of Gentry, Ark., and Thomas Faddis and Tess Faddis of Pineville, Mo.; four daughters and three sonsin-law, Wilma Hubbard and Bob Hubbard, Andra Hecht and Darrell Hecht, and Wanda Faddis, all of Decatur, and Frankie Kelley and Randy Kelley of Bella Vista, Ark.; a brother, Andy Friend of Huntsville, Ark.; a sister, Ipha Roberts of Rogers, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs, Ark., with Pastor Sherman Robinson. Burial will be at the Falling Springs Cemetery near Decatur. Garfield

Robert Carl Larsen, 76, of Garfield, Ark., died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in Springdale, Ark. He was born May 18, 1931, in Brooklyn, N. Y. He was a retired appliance service manager and a retired U. S. Air Force senior master sergeant. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a former Grand Knight, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Air Force Sergeants Association. He was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Theresa Larsen; three sons, Robert N. Larsen of Norfolk, Va., Steve W. Larsen of Mundelein, Ill., and Dale W. Larsen of Garfield; a daughter, Janet M. Renshaw of Wilmington, Ohio; two sisters, Midge Wheat of Upland, Calif., and Jaemma Reger of Belford, N. J.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a. m. Friday, May 16, at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark. Gentry

Grace M. Voshell, 87, of Gentry, Ark., died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark. She was born March 27, 1921, in Egdewood, Iowa, to William J. Carnicle and Margaret Hines Carnicle.

She married Merle S. Voshell on July 3, 1939. She was a homemaker. She lived in Strawberry Point, Iowa, until moving to Gentry in 1982.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle S. Voshell; and a son, Merle L. Voshell.

Survivors include a son, Ricky Voshell of Gentry; three daughters, Jackie Schwerin and Karen Foreman, both of Gentry, and Beverly Whittle of Debuque, Iowa; a brother, Lyle Carnicle of Strawberry Point, Iowa; two sisters, Gloria Burns and Pauline Bowers, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Harold “Gabby” Harlan, 75, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Rogers to Vivian McLeod Harlan and Mamie Combs Harlan. He served as a corporal in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and received medals for his military service. After the war, he worked for 45 years as a repairman for Bunyards Appliance, which became Tucker’s Furniture and Appliance, and he was a Maytag repairman. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Wilma Louise Harlan; a son and daughter-in-law, Howard McDaniel and Christa McDaniel of Bentonville, Ark.; two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn Lancaster and Raborn Lancaster of Risen, Ark., and Jackie Collins and Jerry Collins of Pea Ridge, Ark.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie Harlan and Sheila Harlan of Rogers; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 p. m. to 7 p. m. Wednesday, May 14, at Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers. Graveside services will be at 11 a. m. Westborough, Mass.

Margaret L. Guilford O’Connor, 93, of Westborough, Mass., formerly of Bentonville, Ark., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center inWestborough, following an illness. She was born March 16, 1915, in Keytesville, Mo., to Albert Guilford and Artie Cox Guilford. She was educated in the Keytesville schools and attended Kirksville Teachers College in Missouri. She worked as a teacher in Missouri and as an administrator in the Grandview, Mo., School System for 18 years. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards, cooking and shopping. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. O’Connor, in 1982. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis O’Connor and Beth O’Connor, and John O’Connor, all of Southport, NC.; a daughter and son-inlaw, Julie Parent and Roger Parent of Shrewsbury, Mass.; a brother, William Guilford of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren, Kelly Evans of Southport, Jennifer O’Connor of Raleigh, N. C., Jessica Parent of Portland, Maine, and Carrie Parent of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Conor Evans and Davis Evans, both of Southport.

Visitation will be from 9: 30 a. m. to 10: 30 a. m. Thursday, May 15, at Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home of Shrewsbury, Mass.

Rogers

Albert (Al) Martin Horvath, of Rogers, Arkansas, died May 8, 2008, at a local hospital in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born May 17, 1922, in Lockport, New York, to the late Stephen Horvath and Elizabeth Horvath.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Al married his high school sweetheart Charlotte Luzius on August 5, 1944. They celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Al is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte of the home; one son, Craig Horvath and his wife Maggie of Fife Lake, Michigan; one daughter, Christine Neil and her husband Gene of Lowell, Arkansas. His grandchildren, Jeff Neil and his wife Heaven of Rogers, Arkansas, Alicia White and her husband Ed of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Katherine Horvath, Julie Horvath and Christopher Horvath, all of Traverse City, Michigan, Ryan Gustafson and wife Christin of Naperville, Illinois, Paige Cott and her husband Jeremy of Overland Park, Kansas. His great-grandchildren, Blake and Caleb Neil of Rogers, Arkansas, Elayna Vyas and Leaf Spaulding of Traverse City, Michigan, Sydney and Zoe Cott of Overland Park, Kansas, Wesley and Louis Gustafson of Naperville, Illinois. His brother, Elmer Horvath of Canton, Michigan; and his sister, Margaret Harkai of Portland, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.

Al was a graduate of Plymouth High School in Plymouth, Michigan, and attended Highland Park College. He served in World War II under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge, VIII Army Division. He received two Battle Stars in France and Germany, the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and the French Diplomat Medal of Freedom Award for participation in the freedom of three French cities.

As a young man, he was employed at the Aluminum Co. of America in Detroit, Michigan; Stinson Aircraft in Wayne, Michigan; Great Lakes Airmotive at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He joined Daisy Manufacturing in 1957. He moved his family to Arkansas with Daisy Manufacturing in 1958, where he retired after 33 years.

He served the Quorum Court as a Justice of the Peace. He was a Charter Member of Noark Girl Scout Council, served as a Boy Scout Leader, Little League and Babe Ruth coach in Rogers. He served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was an Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Rogers, Arkansas. A member of the Rogers Historical Museum, Daisy Air Gun Museum in Rogers, Arkansas, and Arkansas Air Museum in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was a lifetime member of William Penn Life Insurance in honor of his Hungarian heritage. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW.

He was most proud of his service as a lifetime member of the Rogers Noon Lions Club. He served for over 52 years in various jobs, past President, Zone Chairman, Deputy District Governor and Chaplain. He received many honors in the service to the International Association of Lions Clubs for the blind. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow.

He enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his son, son-in-law and grandsons. As a member of the Cassville Golf Club, in Cassville, Missouri, he received awards for two holes-in-one.

A memorial service will be held in celebration of his life at First Presbyterian Church in Rogers, Arkansas, Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at 10 a. m. with Rev. Jeff Parker and Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. The family will greet beginning at 9 a. m. and also after the service.
